Tea Bag Sugar Cookies

My daughter’s sister-in-law, Nicole is having a baby boy and they are naming him Jack! I love that name because it was my grandpas name, and what an adorable name for a little boy. I was asked to make cupcakes and cookies for the baby shower which was planned to be a tea party. Instantly I thought of making these adorable tea bag shaped sugar cookies. Sugar cookies are so versatile and are one of those cookies that can be customized to any type of event.

For these cookies, I needed to make the classic tea bag shape. You can buy tea bag shaped cookie cutters, but I didn’t have one, so I decided to make a template from some clear plastic. Since I do paper crafts, I had some sheets of this handy, but it’s cheap to pick up at a craft store. I started by tracing out a slightly larger than average tea bag shape with a sharpie marker, then cut it out. I drew on a place I wanted for the hole, but you do not need to cut that out.

Kortney and Kenzie’s Baby Shower

My daughter Kortney’s baby shower was this past week. While in the planning stage, we tried to come up with ideas for an evening that was not typical, and reflected Kortney’s personal and unique style.

We decided upon a funky and eclectic Anthropologie style theme. We set up several fun stations around the house and on the patio. We were fully decked out with a photo booth, s’mores station a D.I.Y. baby block activity and much more. We also had yummy food, beverages and desserts galore, all made by family members. The evening was a huge hit! We had 30 lovely ladies come out to support Kortney in her new adventure to mommy-hood.

As the evening progressed, our lovely friend Catalina led us in a mommy devotional, Kaela finished with a prayer over Kortney and we all got to watch her get teary eyed as she watched the video we made her. All in all, the evening was wonderful. Kortney is 37 weeks (full term) as of now and eager to start the next chapter in her life.

Thank you to all who came out and shared your love and support.

You can find more information HERE about the specific decor and activities at the shower. I hope some of our ideas inspire you to to get your creative juices flowing for your next shin-dig.
